The Chevy Chase Citizens Association and the Northwest Neighbors Village are presenting a joint program that serves two purposes:

  • To elect a new CCCA board.
  • To present David Cohen offering Lessons from Lives: the Harvard Study of Adult Development.

1.     This year the CCCA has three nominees for leadership positions: Sandy Cihlar for Treasurer, Jory Barone for Secretary, and Robert Gordon for President. The first two are incumbents. Robert is currently First Vice President. They will be voted on as a slate. An election will be held later to fill two open positions: Second and First Vice Presidents. Please communicate with Samantha Nolan (nolantutor@gmail.com) for more information or to volunteer. This will be the first order of business for CCCA members.

2.    NNV volunteer David Cohen explores the lessons learned from the Harvard Study of Adult Development. The study began in 1938 with 268 healthy college sophomores. It followed them, and later 450 inner city Boston men, through their lives. Under only its fourth director, it continues today with their descendants. What does the study tell us about health, longevity, life satisfaction, and our roles for our families? David Cohen is working on a book that draws on the study and his interview with its director. He posts findings and updates from his project on Facebook at Toward A Life You Want.
