With AGE comes POWER: Volunteering with Impact
Speaker: Elizabeth Workman
Aging brings forward a wealth of knowledge, skills, talents, and experiences. Channeling those assets into the world of volunteering and nonprofit work benefits you, the organization, and those in need. Elizabeth Workman, founder of Goods For Good, a DC grassroots volunteer-powered nonprofit whose goal is to strengthen our community through collective acts of kindness, will share with us how and why she formed the organization and how we all can get involved in doing GOOD!
Elizabeth Workman is the Founder and Executive Director of Goods For Good. Originally from New York and Connecticut, Elizabeth came to Washington, DC in 1988 and fell in love with the city that would become her new home. A “social service junkie” since her teen years, Elizabeth graduated from George Washington University with a major in psychology and received a Master’s in Psychology from American University with a focus on social services and family dynamics. For more than 30 years, Elizabeth has worked in the DC non-profit social service sector, including 10 years at Sasha Bruce Youthwork where she provided direct families, services to runaway, homeless, abused, and neglected at-risk youth and their families, and managed a staff of 11. She also served as Deputy Director of Fair Chance for 5 years where she focused on strengthening community-based nonprofit that work with children in poverty. Goods For Good became a true labor of love in 2018, thanks to the endless support of her family.
