Art Surprises
Mondays 2:00-3:30 pm Oct. 21- Dec. 16 (No class Nov. 11)
Our lives are full of surprises — some transformative and life affirming, maybe even miraculous. Some might have been less welcomed, challenging and even life altering. In this class, we will work with surprises in our past in our art-making. As the class progresses we will work with self-portraiture and a sharing of our wisdom with future generations using these events. The class will investigate and find inspiration in the work of Joseph Cornell, artists that have chosen to use self-portraiture to capture the present moment, and pop-up book technologies as we prepare a gift of legacy for future generations. For the first class, please bring an photo of you in your youth and an empty box that measures larger 5 x 7.

While she worked at the Corcoran College of Art and Design, Meg Artley, an experienced Registered Yoga Teacher, studied drawing and painting as an adult student. Meg takes and shares joy in the process of making and enjoying visual art — from the technique and mindful focus required, to the universal language spoken, shared and heard.
