We meet every Friday for a 45-60 minute walk (weather permitting!). Typically, there is a leader and co-leader so we can accommodate moderately-paced walkers as well as those preferring a faster pace.

This route starts at Picnic Area 6 and enters a well-trod dirt trail that parallels the creek. There are some mild inclines involved.

A volunteer will be waiting at the first entrance to the parking lot.

To reach Picnic Area 6, take Military Rd east past the Nature Center exit and St. John's College High School. Turn right on Ross Drive, the first exit after the Nature Center exit, and angle left down the hill toward the stop sign at Beach Drive. Turn left on Beach Drive and you’ll see a parking area on the left.

Do not follow Google Maps directions. They have lead people astray in the past. A better map is below.

Inclement weather policy: NNV will make a decision to cancel a walk by 2:00 pm Thursday, in the event of predicted inclement weather. All registered walkers will be notified by email or you can check our events calendar for an updated status.

NNV Full Members: If you would like to request a ride to get to the starting point of the walk, please mention that you need a ride when you register for the walk or call the office at (202) 935-6060 to request a ride at least three days in advance of the walk.
