This is a special event. We will be helping to observe a South Indian holiday, Onam Sadhya, being observed on August 23. Celebrated in Kerala and Malaysia, it is a lavish feast served on fresh banana leaves, is a testament to the peoples’ love for food and its emphasis on unity and inclusivity. The grand Onam Sadhya feast is a symbol of communal harmony. The tradition of serving and enjoying food together reflects the idea of inclusiveness and the importance of sharing abundance with others. The feast often offers 24-26 different dishes, although grand Sadhya for weddings or festivals can offer as many as 64 dishes. There’s more. The floral decorations and the use of natural materials in the celebrations underscore Kerala's reverence for nature. The intricate flower arrangements reflect the close relationship between people and the environment.
Come and join us for this very special adventure and event. The location is at Dakshin, formerly known as Indique, in Cleveland Park. They changed their name and culinary style to focus on the vegetarian meals of Kerala and South India. Dakshin is having this ONAM SADHYA on Sunday, August 23. NNV has reservations for 10 guests at 2:30 pm.
Hosted by Bobbie Messalle. Please RSVP by clicking above or emailing Leslie.
