Support NNV’s Tickets for a Cause – Tuesday, May 30th at 7pm

Tickets for a Cause logo

NNV’s annual fundraiser, Tickets for a Cause is back by popular demand! As in years past, the event will support the heart of NNV’s operations – our valued volunteers! Volunteers are the key to realizing our vision of a generous, supportive, inclusive community where all older adults are valued, age with dignity, and enjoy opportunities for growth and engagement. In order to meet the needs of our older neighbors, all 140 NNV volunteers are screened and trained and supported by our small professional team who coordinate services and offer guidance and resources. Tickets for a Cause aims to raise $15,000 to offset the expenses associated with our volunteer program.

NNV's Tickets for a Cause fundraiser has several extraordinary prizes. This year your ticket purchase of $100 will enable you to win any one of the fabulous prizes, valued from $200 to $2,300. The more tickets you purchase, the greater your odds of winning! There are prizes for all ages! Some Highlights include:

  • Vacation weekend at a beautiful lake house in West Virginia
  • Fitness and personal training
  • Big Apple weekend
  • Theater and museum tickets
  • Private pizza party and dessert for you and your friends at your home
  • Hillwood Museum guided tour and tea
  • Nationals baseball tickets
  • Family fun activities
  • In-home computer help
  • Downtown DC dates

Mark your calendars for May 30th at 7 pm when the winners will be announced! Please encourage your friends, family, and neighbors to purchase a ticket or two, support NNV, and win great prizes. Tickets are on sale now!

Thank you in advance for your support!

With kindest regards,
Stephanie

Impressionistic drawing of a woman falling through spaceSaving Claire: The Story of Denying Gravity
Fall Prevention Documentary Screening & Panel Discussion
Monday, April 29th, 1 pm

Unfortunately, more than 30 million older Americans fall every year. This equates to one fall every second of every day. In fact, 1 in every 4 older adults fall each year. 7 million people are injured and for many, falls herald the end of independence. After just one fall, 70% of people express a fear of falling, which can lead to reduced engagement and social isolation. This, in turn causes other health issues.

Join Cleveland & Woodley Park Village at the Cleveland Park Library on Monday, April 29th at 1pm in the lower level meeting room to view the documentary, Saving Claire, which explores the complex nature of aging, resistance to change and all the relatable patterns that increase fall risk. After the documentary screening there will be a lively interactive discussion and Q&A with local experts: clinicians, first responders, physical therapists, and occupational therapists, etc.

To register, simply call the Cleveland & Woodley Park Village office at 202-615-5853 or Click here to register.

Undesign the Redline logoUndesign the Redline exhibit at Cleveland Park Library
April 11 - July 11, 2024
The exhibit is open during regular library hours.

Understanding the uncomfortable truth that upper Northwest DC’s history is part of the national history of redlining is the first step to addressing racial inequities.

  • An interactive exhibit, created by Designing the We, that explains the history of redlining–the explicit devaluation of residential areas based on race–and other, once legal policies that denied Blacks residents and other people of color access to homeownership in upper Northwest DC and nationwide
  • An exploration of how segregated communities developed in the 20th century and the residual, lasting effect of redlining and other public policies: racial inequity
  • A catalyst for change that invites visitors to learn, share, and take action to dismantle systemic discrimination
